The RPS4-SVPX is a compact 4-slot SpaceVPX (VITA 78) chassis designed to enable high-performance onboard computing for next-generation missions.
It provides a modular, standards-based platform that simplifies integration while supporting scalable, future-ready architectures.
Part of Frontgrade’s MAMBA family, the RPS4-SVPX is built on a standards-based VPX architecture, allowing systems to scale from proliferated LEO constellations to Class A national asset missions and operate across orbital domains from vLEO through cislunar space. The chassis supports up to four 3U SpaceVPX cards within a compact footprint.
Recognizing that a standard backplane will not meet every mission need, the RPS4-SVPX features a flexible chassis design with mission-specific backplane options. This approach enables tailored configurations while maintaining the benefits of a common platform. The integrated backplane provides high-speed data connectivity, power distribution, and system management across all slots while maintaining signal integrity in harsh conditions.
The RPS4-SVPX supports PCIe, Ethernet, and high-speed SERDES fabrics, along with timing and synchronization capabilities.Top of Form
