Frontgrade Joins RISC-V Foundation
Cobham Gaisler announced today that is has recently been accepted as a Gold-Level Member of the RISC-V Foundation.
Gothenburg, Sweden – Cobham Gaisler announced today that is has recently been accepted as a Gold-Level Member of the RISC-V Foundation (www.riscv.org). The RISC-V Foundation directs the future development and adoption of the RISC-V instruction set architecture (ISA), an open, free instruction set architecture that will enable a new era of processor innovation through open standard collaboration. With over 200 members, the RISC-V Foundation is a collaborative community of software and hardware innovators powering innovation at the edge forward.

Our products have also found their way into demanding terrestrial applications. By supporting the RISC-V ISA, Cobham will be able to offer future fault-tolerant and certified processor solutions to customers also outside the space domain.”
Cobham intends to release products based on the RISC-V ISA in parallel with the further development of its LEON SPARC processor based products. The initial RISC-V product will be a RV64GC compliant processor Intellectual Property (IP) core written in VHDL, with the expected launch date at the end of 2019. The processor will be fully integrated with Cobham’s GRLIB VHDL IP core library. GRLIB offers a plenitude of interfaces and functions such as high-speed serial interconnect, encryption, compression, etc., to which the RISC-V processor can interface. The processor IP core will be complemented with the upgrade of the GRMON3 Software Debug Monitor to support the RISC-V ISA.
