Product overview
The PCS5038 combines eight precision current sources with voltage-monitoring comparators for resistive-sensor measurement. A single external resistor sets the current for all source channels, and individual outputs can be paralleled where additional current is needed. Each source has a monitoring comparator, arranged in two banks with separate enable and reference inputs. An internal precision reference can support comparator-threshold generation. Turning off the current sources allows the device to function as an octal comparator. The architecture supports temperature monitoring with thermistors and resistance temperature detectors, with discrete controls for source and comparator operation.

Set sensor excitation and thresholds
Choose the external setting resistor for the required excitation current and use the internal or external voltage reference for comparator thresholds. Keep sensor voltages within the compliance limits in the datasheet.
